would you look at them any different? I mean we have guys like McGwire and Pettitte that admitted they used steroids and while they still used, it seems we are "ok" with it. To me it's like they were man enough to admit they cheated and now don't look at them in such a harsh light. I'm not say we are 100% ok with what they did but we don't totally hate the guys. Hell McGwire came back to be a coach in the major leagues. If one of the big steroid guys came out tomorrow and said I used would your opinions of them change?

I dont have a problem with them either way - cheating is as American as apple pie.
Cobb with his spikes, Aaron and Mantle with the amphetamines, the 80's guys with the nail files and grease under the caps and the corked bats, me with my Finance cases during my MBA program, Bill Clinton with Lewinsky, Affleck with his nanny, etc. etc.

Whether you're an honest cheater or a lying cheater you're still a cheater.. so no my opinion of them wouldn't change in regards to how they played the game and what they did.
I have very little tolerance of outright cheating and boosting performance.. especially when you're already really talented to begin.

Baseball was awesome when players used roids. They should be celebrated.

I think you have to fess up and show contrition early. The folks that do seem to get the most credit from fans, media...everyone.

Yes if they would have just admitted it then people would look at them more favorably.

It's a trap.
McGwire admitted he used, apologized, and he's still a pariah. Petitte did the dame thing and was forgiven. It's completely based on whether we liked them in the first place.
The best thing about Bonds and the HOF is it seems he couldn't give a single damn about it. It's great. He knows he's the best, he doesn't need you to tell him. He's one of the few steroid guys who seems genuinely happy and content. That is the best policy: utter apathy towards what others think of you.

I don't really care what Bonds was on. The guy was getting maybe one pitch to hit a night and he was rocketing them. He was seriously dialed in for awhile.

I agree with this. Isn't he really big into cycling now?

Even the people who used it still weren't 100% honest about what they did, or how much. Yet they allow them to still be associated with the league after they blatantly cheated. Now I realize that gambling is different, but it's basically the same with Pete Rose. He's admitted to Gambling, not 100% honest about it, but he's still blackballed. They shouldn't forgive one and not the other. It's not like Rose is going to ever coach, or be associated with a team to the point of making any decisions for on field products. Let him back in, so he can get into the Hall. Now with all that said, it would not make any difference to me whether or not players admitted to their shite or not. They all cheated their profession, we know it. They know that we know it. Just come clean regardless. Everyone will forget it in a month, take your lick.

I think steroids should be mandatory in baseball, so no.
