I do it because direct sunlight in my eyes blinds me but mainly because idiots at night can't remember to dim their lights when coming up behind someone.

After looking at a bunch of pictures, I think I will do either 30% or 35% on all four side mirrors...I think it looks cleaner with all at the same tint. I have a black on black car.

Mine is 20% over factory in the rear, 20% on front side glass, and 80% on my windshield.
I figure if it's legal for cops and elected officials then it must have some safety benefit. Basically if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. I have gotten a few tickets over the years, I even got one when I had a security exemption. News flash, cops don't give a frick about your exemption, you're getting a ticket if they want to give you one.
