We will be fine with Brees spreading the ball around to these guys.

The key though is balance with the run game & keeping a clean pocket for Drew which everyone seems to be worried about right now with good reason.

Under Payton, our offense has been the most successful when the ground game is solid because not only does it take pressure off of Brees but it makes play action lethal. You know when the offense is clicking at it's highest when they go 2 TE, FB, HB with a 1 WR deep route & Brees burns a defense with a deep ball because the defense sells out to stop the run.

I'm with you in that I'm not overly concerned about WR unlike some others are. We have guys we are capable of producing. Plus who were guys like Marques Colston, Lance Moore, Billy Miller & Jimmy Graham before hooking up with Payton & Brees? It can work with the guys we have at receiver now but damn, protecting Drew & creating a consistent ground attack has to be a top priority otherwise Drew is going to press a lot. Bad things tend to happen when Drew presses.

I realize we need to be successful with having a nice yards per carry average from Ingram, Robinson, Spiller, and Hightower.

I feel that CSP knows protection has been an issue. I believe with Spiller/Cooks/and even Ingram we will utilize screens, bubbles, short passes, and wheel routes coming out the back field. These screens and quick set plays with Cooks/Spiller will help set up the run game and also keep Drew upright.
All about timing/pace/tempo. After watching the way Max Unger plays and how successful he is at getting to the 2nd & 3rd level so fast really transforms our offense. Just watch that screen to Cooks that went for a TD vs Ravens. Unger was the main reason that play worked so well.
I think the Saints will run plenty of SCREENS this season and I think that will help our run game and the occasional long ball.
I still think we will be able to run the ball well. All of us here are nervous because we don't want to see Drew pressured so damn often this season, and I believe with these quick screens and type of play calls will assist in less pressures & sacks.
I am optimistic
