Agreed. He looks to be Brees' new weapon down the seams but it also sounds like he has greatly improved running the intermediate routes as well.
Anybody, who is saying Coleman isn't a lock to make the roster is kidding themselves. They need to pay close to attention to how many back shoulder throws Coleman has been getting so far in camp from Brees.
One, it takes a strong chemistry between receiver & QB for those back shoulder throws to be successful. The timing has to be right as well as a level of trust by both players.
Secondly, teams throw back shoulder passes to receivers they have the utmost confidence in. You are not going to throw back shoulder passes to receivers who is struggling to run their routes properly, who lacks the necessary chemistry with the QB or has an issue with drops.
People also need to pay attention to how often Coleman is being targeted in the redzone drills. It's a sign that Payton has plans for him to be targeted a great deal in those situations.
