Gallstones by themselves don't do anything. They just sit in the gall bladder. What you are refering to if cholecystitis - inflammation of the gallbladder. It is generally caused when one the stones migrates and becomes lodged in connecting tube attached to the gut. If that happens to be at the confluence of what is called the pancreatic duct and the common bile duct then one can get pancreatitis without cholecystitis causing similar symptoms to what the lady is describing.

But like the ED DOC above said. She probably has gastritis.
