Yeah, of course you can find some good food, but it's typically from Italy, China, India, Middle East, etc. I was probably being unfair and overgeneralizing, but I was mainly getting at the fact that their default cuisine is pretty appalling.

You can obviously seek out some good international stuff if you make an effort. But the OP wouldn't be on vacation, and if he's looking to just get something that's reasonably priced and fast on a weeknight, they don't exactly have a solid offering.

Also, I'm not much of a foodie, so I guess that's another reason I have a different view.

Kebab trucks, best Indian food, awesome Thai and Malay for cheap, pub food isn't bad, I ate a lot of Guinness pies, fish and chips can be quite good. You can find good food in basically any cuisine you want much like NYC. Their grocery stores are also way ahead of us on prepared items. They have whole little markets with good meals already prepared, you just cook a couple of the ingredients or bake the dish and done. It was great.
