Which UDFA Rookies Make the Final Roster?

This is a strong year for UDFA rookies.
Damn strong.
Seems like everywhere you look, there are guys making plays whose names seem only vaguely familiar.
Duncan writes up decent summaries of the top contenders.
Bobby Richardson (DL):
Sean Hickey (G):
Willie Snead (WR):
Snead is a name that I've heard a whole lot lately.
Seems like a Lance Moore-type receiver, and our offense rocked when we had one of those.
Others:
I think Snead is destined for the PS. We have a million receivers right now.
It's a relief to see a UDFA guard step up, but I still feel like we should have drafted one.
So who do y'all think sticks around?

Bobby Richardson (DL):
quote:
Richardson has been one of the most pleasant surprises of camp and at this point looks like a lock to make the final roster. He is already working with the second-team defense and is even seeing time with the first unit in some passing situations. He reminds me of Darren Howard, the former Saints lineman from the Jim Haslett era, an end-tackle 'tweener with excellent pass-rush skills.
Sean Hickey (G):
quote:
Sean Hickey is listed as the second-team guard on the unofficial depth chart the team released on Monday. Depending on how many offensive linemen the Saints keep, Hickey might be competing with only reserve guard Mike McGlynn is the club elects to keep an extra interior lineman.
Willie Snead (WR):
quote:
Snead technically is not a rookie since he spent time on Carolina's practice squad last season, but he was a virtual unknown to Saints fans before last week. He has been one of the early standouts in camp but might be a victim of numbers in a deep wide receiver pool. Even though the Saints like Snead, he could land on the practice squad, where he retains eligibility.

Others:
quote:
Other sleepers have emerged in recent days. Linebackers Henry Coley and Jerry Franklin and defensive linemen Tavaris Barnes and Ashaad Mabry have earned extra reps in practice because of injuries to players ahead of them on the depth chart. Each has flashed talent.
I think Snead is destined for the PS. We have a million receivers right now.

He is definitely one of the camp standouts, but he will need to make a few plays in preseason games to stand out from the pack.

I'll wait for some games to be played to give a real guess but based on reports you have to say Richardson definitely and Snead has a shot. Breaux definitely if he counts as an UDFA. Hickey just because of lack of depth.

They decided Breaux was out of the running because he has pro experience and he's already playing slot with the one's.

Been saying it since the beginning of camp, Richardson will start this year.

Henry Coley
Richardson
not going to count Snead, but he has a legit shot.
Hickey as well

I'd go maybe a bit further on snead, if he makes plays in games like he has practices, he's a damn near lock. They said a few days ago he's caught 12 of his 13 passes his way.

Nick Underhill ?@nick_underhill 4m4 minutes ago
We just found out Henry Coley's nickname is "The Hammer" because he's "always thumping on the field"

More on Snead
Comparisons to Lance Moore:
"near-identical physical dimensions"
"suction-cup like hands that are reminiscent of Moore’s own super-glue-ish mitts"
"neither will gape mouths with his speed in the 40-yard dash while, still, somehow managing always to appear open."

quote:
“(Snead is) someone that functions well in the slot,” Saints Coach Sean Payton said. “I think he’s a good route runner with strong hands, and he’s smart. And those are traits that Lance had.
“(But) Lance played a ton of good football for us, so the jury is still out and he’s still got a ways to go. But those are some things that you do see early on from (Snead).”
And Snead is doing everything he possibly can to jump-start his NFL career with the Saints, who will play the preseason opener Thursday in Baltimore against the Ravens.
quote:
“That’s a tough guy,” cornerback Keenan Lewis said. “I watched him last year – a lot of heart, comes out and competes every day, that’s what’s expected of a younger guy to come out and compete every day. It’s not really shocking to me. We brought him in late in the season and that’s what we saw, a blue collar worker who comes out and competes.
“He’s tough. He reminds me of a guy like (former Panthers, current Ravens receiver) Steve Smith – not really big, but plays big. He’s got a lot of heart, no matter where the ball is he’s going to catch it, get up and be ready to roll the next play. He’s a great blocker as well.”
quote:
“He lacks some top-end speed and yet he has some uncover skills. He has real good football awareness. Those are good things.”

I thought the reports have been that Humber seems to be to most consotant linebacker in coverage.
Posted on 8/11/15 at 7:17 pm to Kevin TheRant
our defense will be terrible again if Humber has to play snaps

Saints need WR's.

But will his endzone dances be entertaining? This has been severely lacking since Moore left

I want us to put RJ Harris on the practice squad but I'm afraid he wont make it through waivers.
