I've been saying this for a while, but we need to implement a 3 wide base offense. We need to be throwing the ball on average 28 times a game. We have way too many weapons and now that the QBs have game experience, there should be no reason that we don't explode in the passing game.

I agree. Not only does that get more of the best play makers on the field but it potentially helps the run game as well. Defenses have to match personnel & by going 3 WR, you force the defense to go a nickel package with an extra DB.

You get a smaller bodied defender on the field & create space by a numbers & size advantage in the box. The quarterback will always have a run pass option no matter what the play call is from upstairs. He'll determine the proper call based off the defensive alignment presnap.

With so many big receivers, they also need to attack the seams more. The way a lot defenses defend the Tigers offense, there are big, chunk plays to be had down the seams if they were attack them more. It takes a QB with arm strength, touch & accuracy to pull that off though so it would have to be Harris playing to pull that off. Hopefully the back shoulder throws from 2013 return as well. That takes chemistry to pull off though.

I completely agree we need to throw the ball more--or certainly mor effectively--but this number seems completely arbitrary. I doubt you could find any data to suggest a correlation between throwing for 28 times a game and winning. Conversely, I bet you could plenty that suggest a certain amount of rushes tend to equate to wins.

I agree. We also have a ton of weapons at RB, maybe even the best one in the country. And we have a very experienced--and big--offensive line that should be a strength. What we need is a semblance of balance, to move the chains. More than anything, we need to run many more plays period, be the rushing or passing.

And we need to be versatile enough to be able to win multiple ways when teams take away one part of the offense. Some games we may need to rush 50 times for 300 yards. Others we may need to sling it around 30 for 250. I think we may be able to that kind of balance with Harris, but not just if he's anointed like most on here want because he's not Jennings, but if he drops his nuts, toughens up, and takes the damn thing. That's our only chance to be great on offense and it has very little to do with Miles or Cameron or all our offensive weapons. Our chance to be great lies between the ears of Brandon Harris. Let's hope he's ready to do it this year. I'm skeptical...but eternally hopeful.
