New automotive-based show reuniting them with their longtime producer on Top Gear.
Amazon signed them exclusively for Prime TV.
The contract is for $250,000,000.00

So one TV franchise is worth as much the Washington Post. Crazy how times change.

Top Gear had viewership globally of 350,000,000.

Makes since. Most popular TV series worldwide that has had longevity.

Yeah at first I was like $250 MILLION dollars with my Dr. Evil voice. Then when I realized how ubiquitous it's reach was worldwide I was like, "okay that makes some sense."
The only issue I see is that Amazon TV only has 40 million viewers. That's like $5 for every viewer...

Obviously, Amazon is hoping this convinces a lot more people to sign up. I bet it would if they would make PrimeTV a stand alone option.

I've have been finding myself increasingly turning to Prime for much of my TV viewing. Their library is much improved.

Can't believe Netflix fricked this up.

Should I dump Netflix for Prime?

That's great news.
Hopefully they can send them off on their weird adventures. I loved the one where they drove 3 old station wagons through Africa.

Use both.

Great strategy by Amazon for getting new subscribers, though. Eventually, I see these companies as being like the old networks, each owning different TV and movie properties. Many people will subscribe to more than one, and the total will still be cheaper than cable.
