I actually think theres a bigger market for 6 cylinder diesels in half ton trucks than what we realize (not that people would ever realize thats all they needed). Like you said, 3/4 ton diesels are more powerful than really needed. A 6 cylinder diesel on these frames can pull most everything the average tower is going to pull, plus you'll get 10 mpg better. The diesel on these small frames doesn't have the wheelbase to really make the towing any better.

They should be 4 cylinders in full sized trucks.

Offer a full sized truck that gets over 40mpg hwy without being a turd or costing a fortune. The engines and transmissions are here. Everything already exists, it just needs to be combined.
