There was a couple of people swimming yesterday by the shore. He kept going further out and got about 50yds off the shoreline. Then he just disappeared.
He was a guy living in a homeless shelter, and he no doubt went out too far, got tired and was dragged under. He has probably been floating under the surface in this area since yesterday and the bad weather we got brought him up. The wind and rain was howling from Algiers point towards the French Quarter this evening.

How far out from the shore can one reasonably swim before getting fricked? Seriously, this whole "swimming in the Mississippi River around NOLA" thing is new to me.
