4 of us will be there. We are still looking for a hotel. Any advice?

Most of the hotels near campus have been sold out for a while. There's rooms in North Syracuse by the airport (10-15 min drive to campus) and East Syracuse by carrier circle (15 min drive). As long as you don't mind driving, it's not bad. After the game can go to the varsity or marshall street for some food and beers while the traffic dies down. There's free parking on south campus and there's a free shuttle over to the main part of campus. Gamedays can get crowded on the streets by campus, but nothing like the cluster created by contraflow after a game at tiger stadium.

And I will condemn those that complain about the local alumni association but don't raise a finger to help. As I learned as a coach and principal, you can't satisfy everyone.
I hope the local New York alumni do something. I'll be glad to support them by showing up.

I will condemn any local alumni group who will advertise the hell out of an event and mislead, then charge tiger fans for a piss poor "tailgate' when those fans could be adding to and enjoying the away game atmosphere.

Me and my family are looking forward to the game. Where is everyone staying? We are staying at Embassy Suites.

Most of the places are soldout unforunately. We got our hotel in April. Good luck man.

Do you know if the Best Western by the airport has a restaurant inside, or if there are any restaurants, bars, and attractions within walking distance of this hotel?

People who complain about a tailgate party that they are free not to go to are miserable. The various alumni groups are simply trying to provide a little entertainment for the rest of us coming from elsewhere and raise a little money for LSU. Don't go if you think it's a rip off, but please stop complaining, makes you look like a jackarse.

Ok...let me throw this out here. Tailgating for visiting fans is rather hard to do. Our campus is urban with numerous smaller lots.
Tailgate Guide
My advice is for your alumni group to contact a local restaurant/bar downtown. Order up a bus to take you to the game and back. I think LSU is setting up something near the Dome so that might be an option.
Another option is to go to Skytop...the only downside is taking a shuttle bus. At Skytop you can bring in RVs, etc and tailgate on grassy lots. They are building indoor bathrooms out there to go with the porta-potties.
If you come over to Syracusefan.com and register and post you will get more info. You might even get invited to some tailgates.
For hotels...I doubt you can get in close. Syracuse is similar in size as Red Stick...nothing is more than 15 mins away. Happy Hunting.

Not sure, we are staying there as well. Was the only place we could find last month. Son is doing a college tour on Friday after we get there.

You need a car there. You are on the airport proper. I would call the hotel about a restaurant. The good news are the rooms are decent and nearby are some excellent restaurants (but off the airport). Also, the parking is free for you at the hotel.
