Twc just increased our internet speed to 100mb. When running a speed test my computer which is wired into the router is now getting 90 to 100mb, but all of my wireless devices (iPhones, iPads, Samsung phones) are still getting around 20-30mb. When I change my wireless band on my router to 5ghz/40mhz the iPads get 80-90 Mbps, but my other devices can no longer connect. Any suggestions?

What's your router model?

Chances are your router can't run both bands simultaneously and your 2.4ghz band is 802.11g. The iPads are probably the only ones capable of connecting at 5ghz.

A new router is probably in order. Dual band, 802.11n spec. Asus RT-N66U is often recommend.

Also remember wireless speed require capable devices on both ends - if your client device is older then a faster speed by the router will be of marginal or no help. Just as a "rule of thumb", if your client device cannot utilize the 5G bands it is not going to approach ethernet speeds. I use Android and my current phone is more than double the 2.4G speeds of its predecessor & the same holds true for the wife's iPhone 6+ compared with her prior 4S. Both my Android & her iPhone have 5G speeds equal to ethernet. FWIW, the above comments are based on the same modem & router combination.

And you need more than that to do what?
