Unless you're talking about worms and other grub, no you can't.
Worms, grubs, crawfish in streams, nuts and berries. You can do nothing but forage to survive if you need to and still not spend anywhere near a full day doing it. And this isn't in an area where there are large animals that can be killed with a simple spear, kind of surprised it's taking them this long to come to the conclusion that they should hunt large game like rays and eels in the shallow water.
It isn't like they have to think ahead to survive a winter or drought, they only have to concern themselves with the immediate 40 day window.

all seasonal food sources and aren't in season anymore here.
So what are you going to go kill behind your house? You going to make a spear and kill a squirrel, rabbit or bird?
The only thing i can see you killing is a opossum or armadillo at night, b/c they are the stupidest animals on the planet.
and to reply to what your saying they should be doing, i think they are all doing just fine food wise on the show through 18 days. If you have enough energy on day 18 to do yoga for fun and walk 13 miles without water, pretty sure you've been surviving just fine.
