I think this happens a lot with the craft beer crowd. We tell distributors and store owners "I wish we had 'x' brewery, I'd buy it all the time.", but about 3 months after they get here most of us are only buying the special releases and the rest become shelf turds.

I was thrilled to see Oskar Blues here, and I bought it quite often at first. But now the same issue of freshness has arisen. Old dates, no purchase. I'll sure as hell buy Ten FIDY whenever I see it, though.

One of the best things about new stuff in the market means fresh beer.

Agreed. But lately I find myself revisiting some of these, and keeping them in my fridge more often. There are some really solid beers that we mavens pass up because we're focused on finding the next big thing.
