A University of Kansas student was expelled for calling his ex-girlfriend a “psycho bitch” on Twitter. The tweet, which did not mention the woman by the name—and was not visible to her—is disallowed under Title IX, KU has argued.
The matter is now before the Kansas Court of Appeals. Both the American Civil Liberties Union and the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education have filed briefs in support of the former student, Navid Yeasin.
I love FIRE. They are the only sane voice in the jungle of activist idiots that our universities have become.

I'd say expulsion is letting him off easy. The first amendment doesn't give you the right to bully and cyber-assault like he did. This type of virtual rape needs to be punished or it will only continue.

Another reason why I don't understand why so many people want their real identity out there for everyone to see. Use an anonymous profile and you don't have this problem. BUt in this social media obsessed society, everyone wants to have their name out there so they can get recognized. Well guess what, between the ages of 15 and 30, most of the things you do and think don't need to be recognized by the rest of the world.

Technically true but you are kind of leaving out the fact that they specifically told him to leave her alone and to not comment on social media about her.
