Marriage is getting to be an outdated institution. There is a decline in traditionalism which the husband works and wife stays at home. The trend is that women are the majority in higher academia and entering the work force at increasing numbers. They are making their own money hence they don't need a man as a provider. Even for the woman who is jobless, the state will take care of her.

In the past marriage was necessary because both parties get what they want. It was an exchange. Man offers his labor and protection to the woman. Woman offers sex and reproduction.

Been married for 39 years. I was 22 and she was 20 when we got married. There are not too many huge, lifelong decisions that we make in this life. For those who don't believe in divorce it is the biggest decision you will ever make. Yet, many people make that decision at an age when maturity and wisdom are hardly fully established.

I'm not surprised by this. If you speak anything like you type, women probably realize you are an idiot pretty quickly and just move on... Your grammar is atrocious.

but think its weird you spend your life, money, and emotions on someone of the opposite sex after a few months of dating.

Generally, getting married after only a few months is a bad idea. Of course there are exceptions, but you would probably want to get to know someone better before you commit your life to them.

first off, it's "than". Secondly, you are just young. Your priorities will likely change when you get a little older and meet the right woman for you.

None of my Family/Friends will rub me after a long day at work, love me good, suck me and sex me and cook and clean for me like my wife. Thats where the line is drawn between Marriage and friends.

being a veteran of 2 failed marriages, and i'm presently married to my first wife, whom I married way to young.(her 15 me 18) She actually attended and graduated high school while we were married. I can tell you that when you meet the right person, you both can sit in the same room for hours and nothing need be said. It's the love and comfort that they are there with you, and that of all the others with more to offer then you have (don't fool yourself there are plenty) she picked you, and loves you with all her heart, and you feel the same of her, and no one, or anything comes before her. You'll know, and hopefully it won't take you 2 failures before you treasure what you have as I did.

Marriage is a civilizing concept. You find it weird because as a an animal it is not natural, especially for men. But man controls nature and civilizes the world, marriage is a way to create order. Without it we get disorder.

Disorder is what we have now with women filling for 70% of divorces.

Don't tell that to the traditional conservatives in here. If marriages were so great then why does divorce at such a high rate happens? I wish I could get that answer. The fact is that half of all marriages end up in divorces. I've witness the divorce process. It's a grueling thing to go through especially if kids are involved.

Would you(man or woman) participate in an activity that has a 50% chance of not working out? Like starting a business with a 50% failure rate. Or buy a stock that has 50% chance to plummet?

I know a few people who are married and are happy. But these are in the minority. Majority married for sex or to reproduce. But when those desires disappear, that 's is when the love fades and people begin to get unhappy.

It's because people don't take marriage more seriously now. Many go in it with the mindset that they can always divorce if it doesn't work out. Or they overlook glaring compatibility differences in their SO cause they love them and think they are attractive.

Also, they don't realistically grasp that marriage won't fix all your problems in a relationship. It isn't a bandaid, it's a magnifying glass for relationship troubles. Many think that things have to be going great all the time....if not it's a sign that the marriage is doomed. Instead they should realize when you commit to spending the rest of your life with someone.....there are gonna be days you don't necessarily like that person....but you choose to love them anyways. And they do they same those days they don't necessarily like you either.

I think women are wayyy more guilty of doing all those things. They get too wrapped up in the wedding they don't plan for after. And when all the warm and fuzzies wear off(and they will)....they think it means they deserve better and so they should divorce to go find it.
