My sister needs a new router, hers is old and has to be rebooted all of the time. She has Cox internet, a Motorola Surfboard SB5101 modem and it is located in the middle of a 3000sg foot one story house. What router would be best? Should she get a new modem as well or an all-in-one? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

There is pretty much a consensus here that the ASUS RT-N66U is solid and a good buy for the money. I'd avoid the all-in-one units.

Here's a LINK to the router on Amazon. Newegg has some refurbs and open box units a little bit cheaper.

SB5101
She should upgrade this as well to the SB6141 ($90, mainstay) or SB6183 ($130, more future proof).

Just upgraded from sb5101 + linksys wrt54g to a sb6141 + Asus rt-ac66u and it is night and day. Went from 5mb to 60mb with cox 50mb preferred.
