They're cheapening their brands by letting poors buy a 30k Benz

I don't understand why anyone would buy a 1 or 2 series BMW other than to say they own a BMW.

Acura has my loyalty. I own two and will probably buy them as long as they will sell them to me. But if I wanted a true top end performance luxury car, I'd probably buy a German car.

The M2 will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six, with a power rating around the 400-hp mark—less than what we previously predicted. We believe it will stay a bit below that figure, if only to give the M3 and M4 an edge. The rear-wheel-drive-only M2 will come with a standard six-speed manual; an M-specific seven-speed dual-clutch automatic will be optional—and will be a point of differentiation from the M235i, with its eight-speed torque-converter automatic.
That car is going to fly.

Well an M series is a bit different

I heard a lot of Acura owners were not pleased with the new TLX. How do you like it?

[]the future of the industry is being determined by the Germans, not the Japanese[/]
That escalated quickly.

The 135 was pretty quick as well. I'd have no shame driving this:

Blah blah blah more German propaganda.
Wife used to drive a 2012 Acura MDX. Great car and very sporty.
Currently drives Infiniti QX60. Another great car and a very smoothe ride.
I value Japanese reliability and affordable maintenance schedules.

To each his own. I just don't care for them.

It was so much fun to drive...it's really just an amazing vehicle they make. I test drove an Audi thinking I could switch and it just didn't drive or behave like a BMW.

My guess is that BMW isn't really rivaled by loaded out Accords or Kias, but that Lexus and Acura might be.
The day of needing to upgrade to Lexus to get great service, design and interiors is arguably over. People buy german cars either for the status, which persists, or for the performance (or the perception of performance). People don't usually buy MDXs or the egg for the same reasons.
FWIW we have a Lexus and love it.

Mercedes and BMW have a lot of crossovers, which are hot right now. They are doing a stellar job with their products IMO.
Cadillac is making great cars but are weak on crossovers. They also seem to be introducing larger and more expensive sedans instead of crossover vehicles. Their priorities are weird.
Lincoln is on life support and getting their tail handed to them by Buick and Acura....neither of whom have a rear drive model that competes with the Germans directly.
Personally, I am partial to the Acura products even though they are fancy Hondas. I also like the Cadillac V-series models. I think I'd look foolish in a BMW or Porsche.

I have a 2012 TSX and a 2014 MDX.
I love that TSX passionately. But it's not a performance car. It's entry level luxury that is fun to drive and has that beautiful tight handling. I bought it because I drive so much and I'll put 200k on it in five years and didn't want something too nice. It doesn't belong in any top end car conversation obviously. The MDX is pretty pimp though.

True-- not many mainstream production cars drive like a BMW, but their reliability sucks. Japan wins every time on durability.

Fair point. Mine was not really an apples-to-apples comparison.

No crap. I also have a 2001 Highlander with 400k plus on it that drives like new. Total beater and can't kill it if you try. Not likely with a BMW.

I just can't get over Toyota/Lexus reliability.
The German cars are not as reliable and the service is insanely expensive.
