You have some points. He should have waited a couple of seconds longer, I agree.

My main contention is the chic was the primary instigator and the definite escalator of the situation and she got popped for it. Justice served and someone that needed to be put in their place was put in their place and won't get violent in the future thinking there won't be any repercussions because of her twat.

Hey he's a good kid that just wanted his soda real quick, being 18 years old and all.

Seriously can't believe all the neanderthals in here defended this piece of shite.

Supposedly his lawyer is saying that the girl also called him a racial slur (N word?). So this story is sort of changing a bit in my eyes. The girl should get some of the blame as well.

I'm going to love to hear what Bill Burr says about all of this. He loves talking about hitting women, not that you can actually do it.. just the idea of hitting them..

Sounds like "she called me a ****" is the new "I was just holding it for my cuz."

I said something to this effect in another thread. Basically, whoever you are you need to be smart and realize you may be on the receiving end of some wildcard guy who snaps and punches/stabs/shoots you. Women need to realize that there is a very real possibility that the same thing may happen to them that would happen to a guy in the same scenario. Any confrontation you start/escalate with a stranger is one that you could be starting with a psychotic, a gang member or someone that has not seen enough "no more" commercials.

Being smart is the best way to stay out of bad situations.

ETA: He should have been smart enough to step back from the situation if possible. She should have been smart enough not to get things escalated to where they were.

I thought it'd be worse tbh. The girl deserves some blame too
But he did cross the line.

Normally I'd ignore that defense but the chick looks drunk and was the aggressor IMO, wouldn't be a surprise if she let that one fly. Still can't punch her though.

What does his age have to do with anything? Where I'm from 18 year olds can go to bars. Can they not in Florida? How old is the girl? Was she of age? I'm betting not, since she is a student as well..

Nah she purposely hip checked the guy to prevent him from getting to the spot next to her. His hand is pulling on the bar to her left. Not trying to get in front of her at all.

I realize he isn't trying to get her spot. He's trying to get the one that is about to, and slowly, opening up. He doesn't wait, and pisses off the white girl as he brushes all up on her. This doesn't make him a dick. At worst, he was being an inconsiderate dick. At best he was just being impatient.

She's facing the other way. All she can feel is someone all up on her and she turns around and they share words...then he gets into the spot. Who the hell knows what they say...? They were probably rude, calling each other names. Then she puts her fist up and we have this mess.

I absolutely see the legal side of this for him and also against her. I think she should face legal action if he does. She bopped him straight in the face. That's NOT ok. And I wouldn't mind him getting off because he was hit first. But holy shite, as a much larger man, I don't think you can morally punch her in the face like that. I don't think it would have been the worst thing ever if he kept his spot on the team. But being kicked off was a perfectly fine result as well. Might not have been easy for him, but he REALLY should have walked away from that whole thing.

In Florida you have to be 21 to buy alchohol.

The girl was 21 BTW.

I agree. I'm glad we can view both sides of the argument.

It's common in crowded bars but most people are decent enough to brush it off with a my bad or my fault and just go about their business. Obviously these 2 were not. I see the girl as the instigator of the incident but you can't strike females like that. Both are to blame for this incident, but sucks he had the most to lose and is paying for it. Ray Rice incident has brought this to forefront and harsh penalties will be handed down all over.

In a perfect world, she'd go to the media and coaches and say "look Jimbo, I was being a drunk count and instigated this. I punched him square in the face and altered his otherwise acceptable behavior." Assuming that she was at fault.

Then Jimbo could better make a more informed decision. I still don't think he would have kept his spot. He can partly thank last year's team for that too. This is NOT a good time to be punching bitches while representing FSU. Better make sure you're a starter first

Ain't no way in hell I'm putting myself in position to have to explain that I wear a brace on my hand because my iPhone has gotten the best of it

Seen a slowmo on the news and it looks like he didn't even get hit. She swung and missed.
