Edit- Someone had a Billy Pate Tarpon direct drive for sale on Microskiff a while back. I'd try to buy that first, then the ross.

I'll was leaning towards the Ross but don't know much about them.

Only the lower end Lamson's are cast. The litespeed is Machined aluminum and an excellent reel IMO. I believe it comes with an lifetime warranty
