I got married in BR recently and for some reason I feel like it was 72 hours. Maybe that was something else.

You apply for the license first. The ceremony must be within 30 days of issuance but you must wait at least 72 hours from issuance to have the ceremony.

However, the 72 hour waiting period is easily waivable by a JOP or what not. That's what is happening now. They are getting married same day because they are applying and getting the waiver.
