Most US home cooks make Thai curry using ready-mixed seasoning pastes, sold in jars/cans. Thai Kitchen brand is sold widely (WalMart, Winn Dixie, etc). But I think the Mae Ploy brand thai curry pastes are pretty good. Surely available by mail order if not in your area. LINK

Found some in Pensacola of all places. Will try to cook this some time this week.
