I don't like that this basically tells the states their laws are meaningless. This could be disastrous to legal marijuana.

but I understand that churches can still not marry them. That's why it was so stupid they were against it. Its not like the government can force a church to marry gays. That will never happen.

I can guarantee the gay lobby will go after the religious tax exemption. Whether it is denial for same sex weddings or refusal of a religious college or university to allow same sex cohabitation, it will happen. Counsel arguing in front of SCOTUS admitted it would happen.

Your argument was used in the denial of services for same sex weddings. What gay would want an anti-gay florist or baker? The gay agenda will push it to make their point.

Theres one catholic church in the heights in Houston that welcomes gays. The priest is always talking about how he accepts gays and all Catholics should too. I've never been, but my gay friend goes there and told me about it. Pretty ballsy move by that priest.

No? They just told states they couldn't enforce laws in their own states. What's stopping them from doing the same to weed?

Oh nothing is, since the Feds still bust legal dispensaries.

The Federal Government has now overruled 37 states that made decision to define marriage between Man and Woman.

78% of voters ruled in favor of the Marriage in Louisiana Act:

"Persons of the same sex may not contract marriage with each other"; La. C.C. Art. 89.

"A purported marriage between persons of the same sex violates a strong public policy of the state of Louisiana and such a marriage contracted in another state shall not be recognized in this state for any purpose, including the assertion of any right or claim as a result of the purported marriage"; La. C.C. Art. 3520

You act like this is the first time the supreme court has done something like this. Your logic is flawed or your understanding lacking.

They recognized the right to marry of same sex couples as a fundamental right. That's why they're able to tell the states what to do. Last I checked that has -0- bearing on marijuana.

Basically, you're saying that recognition of fundamental rights somehow invalidates ALL state laws.

This is the one thing that I'm wondering about. I thought that the gay marriage thing was going to be a state by state thing because states' laws are pretty individualistic in regards to marriage as far as I know.

I'm fine with gay marriage. I'm not so fine with more precedence foe the extension of federal powers of state powers.

I can't wait for anti-gay marriage people to realize this doesn't affect them in any real way at all and their world isn't crashing down.

I wish they'd all do this but refrain from liberalizing everything else about the church. UMC claims it is the government's responsibility to create jobs for people, and that a job is a right.
