It's a cultural thing, I think. Vanderbilt is more likely to recruit kids who also have some degree of excellence in the classroom.

I'm not saying LSU recruits are dumb. Not by a longshot. But many of them of them see their schooling as a means to an end. Or in some cases, they see their LSU offer as a bargaining chip. It's debatable whether LSU is THE "brand name" we think it is, but I'm sure MLB scouts will see an LSU offer as an indicator that this guy should be on their radar.
