If true. He will have Draymond Green to thank

And why is that?

Because they aren't similar players. Only similarity between the 2 is that they are undersized PFs, "tweeners", and bring defensive qualities to the team. That's it. Green showed at Mich St that he can actually play on the perimeter, shoot the 3(37.7% final 2 years of college), and could dribble and bring the ball up the floor. Green played on the perimeter a lot during his last 2 years at Mich St and showed he's very comfortable out there and actually prefers to be out there than on the block. He could also create for himself and for others. Green is also a very good on ball defender and can guard perimeter players.

Mickey was the complete opposite. Rarely was on the perimeter, struggled with dribbling and passing, and has limited range on his shot.

That said, Mickey still can have a nice role for a team. I see him as a smaller Taj Gibson, an off the bench big that brings energy to the floor with his ability to run the floor in transition getting dunks and blocking shots as a weakside defender / rim protector. Mickey is not a great on ball defender and gets his blocks coming from the weakside. And I don't think he will be able to be effective guarding perimeter players and Cousi struggle vs bigger NBA post players. But I def think he can carve out a very nice role as an off the bench big that brings energy to the floor, ala Taj Gibson.

You pretty much answered your own question. If Mickey wants to be successful in the NBA he has to develop some sort of perimeter game and be a better on ball defender. Draymond was not high draft pick because he is an undersized PF, but he has proven that they can be successful in the NBA. You don't draft guys like Mickey in the first round unless you think they have some potential. I don't see it in him, but if he ever plays decent minutes in the NBA it will be because he becomes a good defender or develops some sort of mid-range game.
