No pliers on a yak AND using treble hooks?
I've never been in a mess of ladyfish where I couldn't use soft plastics. I've also not had much luck with hard plastics on trout. I've tried jerk baits, ratltraps, diving, etc

I had a set of pliers but it was still a pain in the arse. It was either treble hooks or a new plastic every 5 casts. They were thick. Might have just been that day. It's the worst I've experienced.

Wut? That's sounds crazy to me.
On the beaches during the summer I throw almost exclusively hard body baits with treble hooks.
Suspending and slow sinking Mirrolures, shallow running crank baits, jerk baits and the like.
Don't use rattle traps much. Sometimes I will throw gold ones around the jetties which the Reds will annihilate.
