The amount of vitriol for this silly movie, based off of another inherently silly movie is a bit, you know, silly.

It's not so much women, and more along the lines of WHICH women and who's doing this.

I guarantee if the cast was full of smarter comedians and had a different director, you wouldn't see near as much hate.

Think of Emma Stone and or Anna Kendrick, plus McKinnon she can stay, they are probably ok. Then maybe Taylor Schilling, Poehler and/or Fey, etc. And I'd almost take anyone from OitNB over Jones. Danielle Brooks, sign me up.

But you thrown in Jones, McCarty and Feig (and Wiig for some, I find her tolerable in small doses), and yeah, this is a fair response. They have made the same movie twice now, and they're going to do it again. (Feig used to be cool before he met McCarthy)

If they want something fresh, best not go to with Spy/The Heat Part 3. It just seems forced as heck to go with an "all women" cast just because.

I thought the smarter play would have been a younger, more diverse cast. Play off of the riff that post-college adults can't get jobs, so they start hunting ghosts. Throw in a younger cast with the aforementioned Stone or Kendrick, plus maybe someone like Donald Gibson, Paul Dano, Danny Pudi etc. And boom. You get diversity without forcing it , a new perspective, and a pretty broad pen to paint with in the delayed adulthood of the millenial generation. Could have been way more interesting than, "Oh, let's just add women, that will make it edgy."

They did offer Stone a part and she turned it down.

Well, you have to remember that people were teased for YEARS with news of sequel plans. Whether or not that was a good idea either, people were always hoping for the best. That's the other reason that makes the anger at least a little justified.

There's big difference between angst and disappointment and the outright hate, ugliness this movie's been met with.

Because she's smart. The whole creative effort behind this wreaks of a "feminism, just because" attitude. It's not the all-women cast, it's just the way it all went down.

I'll agree there's a difference, but fans are fans for a reason. It's completely ok that they get passionate, that's what makes being a fan fun.

Look at the post TCU stuff. I've drifted so far away, but the anger, while not justified by any chance, is certainly understandable. Having things you care about fail just plain sucks.

I just can't believe Leslie Jones is in this. I hate for 2 minutes a night on SNL. I can't imagine her being in a movie with multiple lines.

Real fans don't make it personal and attack those involved.

No one's attacking them personally. Unless you considered critiquing their lack of skill and creativity personal attacks
