My response was a little tongue in cheek as well, so there's that. I just think it's a little overboard when people treat home purchases like it's a terrible burden. It's either this or rent. You can't make payments on either and you're homeless all the same.

30 year mortgages have allowed me to increase my net worth 300k, through a housing market crash no less.

I get the whole "borrower is slave to lender" according to the gospel of Dave Ramsey, but smart people who make good choices with other people's money being any way shape or form akin to a slave is silly IMO.
