What are your recommendations for all inclusive resorts in Mexico? I've never been, but one of the guys in the office went to Playa Mujeres, Excellence last year and said it was great. For those that have been, or been multiple times, which do you consider the best value?

Will be traveling with 3 other couples, no kids.

What are some excursion recommendations? Any good fishing charters?

TIA

None all inclusive have crappy food, watered down drinks and Wal Mart vacationers.

Riu has some amazing properties in Mexico. I've had great experiences with the food and alcohol. Riu palace peninsula is the last one I went to and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I've been to one near cancun. It wasn't all that I thought it was cracked up to be. It was a mid-tier resort in quality. Food was pretty meh and the drinks are all light on the liquor. I had to tip before-hand and tell them to put a shite ton of liquor in my drinks to get anything decent. I personally enjoyed going into one of the nearby towns and eating / hanging out there than the resort. Though the beach is nice at the resort.

I am going to Valentin Imperial Maya tomorrow for vacation. Very good prices and my in-laws have stayed there twice and loved it.

Playa Mujeres, Excellence

Went there for my honeymoon - got one of the "executive suites" with the rooftop pool. Great times were had.

Don't like them. When I have gone down there, I have stayed at all inclusive once and non all inclusive twice.

The first time was all inclusive. I ate breakfast there and had about two drinks over 3 days and nights. I ate out every meal (except breakfast) and did my drinking at bars and clubs. About the only thing I did at the resort was sleep. Days were spent doing activities and nights eating out, clubbing, bar hopping.

Just got back from RIU Palace in Cabo. Awesome resort, drinks, and food. Snorkeling was worth it and if the weather had been better we would have gone fishing. You can do so pretty cheap. I hear most RIU properties are great

I've stayed there twice and planning to go back with a group later this year. I've also been and stayed at places that aren't all inclusive and I prefer the former. You aren't a prisoner there and can get out as much or as little as you desire. Like all resorts there is a concierge who can help you plan excursions (for some reason I recall at least two at excellence). the food is really good. Hit up the hibachi one night

Not a fan of all inclusives but had a better than expected time last summer at Hyatt Zilara in Cancun. All adults, food was decent(Asian restaurant was quite good, lots of fresh fruit at breakfast) . Small but nice gym, yoga on the beach with a good instructor. Lovely pool area. If you're a wine drinker stop and buy some on the way from the airport. Was only there b/c my BF at the time wanted to but whole experience was pretty good. It's more upscale and all adult, big difference from Riu et al

I've got a trip to Excellence Cancun in a few weeks. Have friends that go every year to Excellence properties and they rave about it. Have another friend that's been to Le Blanc several times. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I am thinking about booking a trip to Secrets Aura Cozumel for Labor Day week. Anyone have experience with any Secrets resorts or all inclusives in Cozumel?

I want to know if the extra money for the preferred club is worth it. Also, I want to book a swim out room.
