Ampulex compressa does pretty much the same thing, looks way cooler, and then lays an egg on the cockroach before burying it alive. Then the egg hatches and eats its way through the roach's organs until it reaches maturity, at which point it breaks out of its tomb to fly away.


they attempted to import them a handful of places for cockroach control, but they don't hunt them enough to make it worthwhile. Google the name above though. They're a beautiful shiny green color.
