I wouldn't know anyone in Southern California. We used a company called thecharteryachtcompany.com. None of the 12 people in our party are sailors or had been on a sailboat more than a couple times in our lives.

The broker was a former BVI crew member and knew the area. Some of the other responders probably know more than I do about charter companies. We were pleased with her and she did a great job finding us boats given the circumstances.

Several members of our crew get seasick and were worried about being sick the whole time but no one ended up getting sick on the trip. cats are typically thought to be more stable than monohulls but I ended up in the monohull and had a great time.

There is no way everyone won't have a great time. Just do it.

Lots off charter companies out of Nanny Cay. One summer we went for 10 days and the next for 16 including travel days but we had two couples, I ran power yachts so we just got a 46' from Virgin Charters and could not have been happier. First time was a bucket list item, second was just because we had such a great time on the first. We did everything ourselves. I certified two as openwater divers and we dove wherever we felt like it. Have to go back again while I am alive, it was superb for a water person. We did everything ourselves easily.
