If they win game 2 it puts them in the regional final where they'd have to lose twice - aka the driver's seat. Lose game 2 and they'd have to win 3 games in a row making it 5 games total. Hard to do for any pitching staff.

It's by far the most important game in the regional format.
The outcome of that game is the difference between having to win 1 game in to tries to advance or win 3 games in 3 tries.
