quote:
For perspective, Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly earned $1.2 million in total compensation in 2013, according to USA Today.
That number sounds low, but I found this.

As in past years, Notre Dame's return notes that Kelly is permitted to receive compensation from sources outside the university "with prior written approval from the university" and that any such income is not reported on the return.

And Weis cleaned house
quote:
Notre Dame fired Weis in November 2009. According to the school's tax records, he received more than $6.6 million pay and severance in 2009. He subsequently has been paid nearly $8.4 million by Notre Dame from 2010 through 2013.
During that time, Weis also worked as an assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs and the University of Florida. In December 2011, he became the head coach at Kansas, which was paying him $2.5 a season until firing him in late September 2014 with more than $5.6 million owed him under that contract..

Base salary versus total compensation and bonuses.
Les's base is pretty low. But, then there are extras like : The Les Miles Radio Show, Inside LSU Football, win 8 games, etc. All those kick in more money.
ETA: I think LM's base is low. Does someone know the base salary for LM?
