Every blue moon I'll get in a rut where I've got a lot on my mind and can't fall asleep and end up taking a unisom. Well it's been going for 5 straight days and every night I end up getting the sweats and anxiety if I can't fall asleep within 10-15 minutes.

Any non medicine recommendations? I really don't want to be dependent on a sleeping pill, plus the hangovers are awful.

I get occasional anxiety and can't sleep sometimes too. It's mostly on a Sunday or Monday night when I know I have a whole fricking week ahead to get to the weekend.

Anyway, I refuse to be reliant on prescription medication. I take melatonin sometimes and it helps about half the time.

But someone on this board posted a thread in the last few weeks with a method of falling asleep "within one minute." And I shite you not, I have been doing this every night since I read the thread and while I don't fall asleep in one minute, it has been helping a ton.

It is a breathing pattern. 4 seconds inhale through the nose. Hold breath for 7 seconds. Exhale for 8 seconds through the mouth. It has really helped.

Found the thread
