For leaders I just buy whatever and then add a good quality tippet material. I use loop to loop on the tippets as flouro can cut mono if they're both small.

Also agree that Seaguar is really good. I also have a bund of spools of Orvis brand tippet material.

Lastly, once you get pretty proficient at trout and saltwater flies, give deer hair bas and saltwater flies a run. They are so neat to tie and fish with.

Lastly, most often when tying less is more. Use less materials than you think you will need. I also use the absolutely smallest thread I can get away with.

Just bought my rod, TFO Axiom 9' 8wt and put line on my reel.
also picked up a renzetti traveler and will be getting more fly tying stuff when I get time later in the week
