I did this accidentally. My dad works in the hospital, so he'd always pop in at weird times while we were trying to sleep. I told them that I wish visitors hours weren't just open all day, because you couldn't find a good time to just sleep. Pissed off the MIL apparently and she stormed out. I felt bad, and apologized. It's not that we didn't want people there, but not everyone realizes that the baby doesn't allow you to sleep at night all the time. You may be interrupting sleep time at 2 in the afternoon.

People just assume you guys want everyone there. And really.....that is up to yall. Some people want everyone visiting. Some would rather keep them to a minimum. I can remember checking a mom's episiotomy site(when I was a mother/baby nurse) and there was like 15 people (and small children and male teenagers)in the room and they didn't even offer to leave while I examined mom and she didn't tell them to leave. Patient's brother in law jokingly tells me "I filmed the delivery....she don't need to be shy now" (ewwwwwwwwwww)

I think people just get so excited about the baby they just don't think about the mom needing the rest.
