Another thing to keep in mind....

Everyone is gonna want to visit mom and baby in the hospital. If mom really isn't feeling well, don't be afraid to turn visitors away from visiting at that moment. Many times moms and dads will not want to say anything and think they are being rude to family/friends. Get her nurse involved if need be. It's our job to make sure mom gets enough rest, we don't mind being the "mean nurse" and politely asking visitors to leave so she can rest and you and her don't feel like you have offended anyone. They can always visit once you guys are settled at home with baby.

I did this accidentally. My dad works in the hospital, so he'd always pop in at weird times while we were trying to sleep. I told them that I wish visitors hours weren't just open all day, because you couldn't find a good time to just sleep. Pissed off the MIL apparently and she stormed out. I felt bad, and apologized. It's not that we didn't want people there, but not everyone realizes that the baby doesn't allow you to sleep at night all the time. You may be interrupting sleep time at 2 in the afternoon.

When people did that with mine, I just went and took a nasty shite in the bathroom.

They left quickly.
