The correct answer is that people are out there, but the people with the technology to visit us from vast distances are dead.

Why?

Because it is almost a given that by the time a species is advanced enough to have extensive and near perfect space travel, it is also advanced enough to have elite and advanced AIs. So advanced that those AIs destroy the civilization before it can visit us.

Yet the AI also doesn't visit, even though they were badass enough to frick the super intelligent race up.

The whole fear of artificial intelligence is fricking retarded if you ask me. The smartest person in he world can't intelligent me away from my wallet r my gun, if I had one.

Great post. Don't know why it's getting downvoted.

That's pretty presumptuous. Why wouldn't the AIs have also conquered the known galaxy then? With pretty pedestrian speeds it would only take a few million yrs to colonize the entire Milky Way (compared to the 13 billion yr age of the universe), so why hasn't the all powerful AI shown up here yet?

Come on you have literally no evidence to base this statement on. "Strong" AI is a joke right now, we haven't even shown it to be theoretically possible.
