That's good to hear. He did show some flashes at times last season, even in his limited time. Looks to be a good passer out of the post. Once he has his playing weight figured out and he stays there for a while, he'll be able to put everything together physically, which will help mentally.

He seemed like he was slowly but surely getting better the games he got reps. I know some on the boards think the staff is so dumb they'd ask Elbert to just lose weight and not build muscle, but he definitely had definition. I wasn't surprised, but I also wanted to note that to those with an irrational hate for Jones


Talked to Epps in the quad recently too, and he said he was healthy. I wanted to note that I haven't ever approached athletes for random discussions, but I wanted to kind of reinforce to those two they're not unnoticed and that the fans are stoked about next season, and the fact we all know they're vital pieces to a big tournament run. These guys don't get the recognition the football and baseball players get

That depends. They have things to do sometimes, too. I can't tell you how irritating it was to be studying physics in the union and have some guy come up and try to strike up a conversation with us because my study partner was a well-known player. He was about as friendly as they come, but even he would roll his eyes when they walked off.

The best part is that every douche that ever started shite with me in high school was suddenly my best friend when they saw me sitting with him.

elbert is going to surprise some people next year IMO

but jarreau would still be a huge coup.

Would be a HR addition.

Be probably just as good as any grad big man for simple fact he can play two years.

Has LA roots, played against him in summer league when it was a Easton down in nola, and would give us maturity and leadership in the post.

If Victor cant play in the first semester we will need him. Losses is the early part of the year can really hurt seeding for a team later in the tournament. The difference between a 6-9 seed can almost come down to one or two games.

Also I think Aaron Epps has a Tim Quarterman type leap, and would love to see a lineup where with him you have a huge nightmare problem on the wing for an opposing coach to guard a 6'9 and above wing in either Simmons or Epps. From what I heard and saw he dealt with some nagging injuries but in early practice and the preseason, really impressed the coaches with his outside shot and perimeter skills. Really thought he was a low post force but quickly saw he could do some nice things from the perimeter as well. Always tough for a guy from a small rural school to show on film what he can really truly do.
