I was hoping for some good info on Jarreau today, but he is still in school... He has to graduate to transfer so he isn't done till June 2nd I believe. That's okay for us seeing that our players can't really do much together till late summer.

Just means we may have to wait a little bit on Jarreau depending on if he wants to take some visits...

Either that or an intersession class or two that may need to be completed. IDK but for some reason that date sticks out in my head as the date he finishes. I could be wrong though.

Yea its quarters, lot of teh pac12 schools are. When we opened the football season up there i remember the announcers mentioning UW school didnt start or three more weeks. I also considered going to uw for a minute and recall reading about the quarters structure.

UK is kinda striking out here at the end. Very weird to see. Our recruiting classes are almost identical from a player ranking standpoint. We have tied for the highest average star rating. Not too bad to have the best (or at least tied) for the best class in the country.

They did get a JUCO shooting guard today who shot 46% from deep last year. But Im hearing he is simply a sharp shooter without much else.

Yeah I checked earlier today and we were tied with them in average rating, now we are alone at the top, not bad having the best class in the country overall.

From the LINK you posed, it does sound pretty good for us

quote:

"He's leaving Washington and is looking for a situation where he can get his master's degree and go somewhere and get a fresh start and there's a good chance he wants to get back closer to home," said New Orleans-based AAU coach Graegg Holmes, who is close to both Jarreau and current LSU sophomore Craig Victor. Those two played on the summer team for a few years and have remained close.

"If he decides to come home and play close to where he's from, he told me he wants it to be LSU, Tulane or Louisiana Tech."

He could still be close to family in Nola, and would be the missing piece to a team setup to make a very long run in tournament. He'd have elite facilities and almost every game will be on national television next year. There would be scouts galore at his games. He'd get to play with some guys who could make him a hell of a lot better.

This x's 100. We're talking about a guy with 2 seasons left. He can come in and have an impact on a national program that is on the rise, and benefit in every way imaginable from playing with the top-level talent we're bringing in.

Everyone is talking about how good we look to him... I am not seeing how 5 pts, 4 rebs in 20 mins looks good to us. No, I have not reviewed film and won't unless he commits to LSU. Just not buying how a marginal player in similar conference is supposed to be a difference maker at LSU.

If you tell me because he has untapped potential and ability (and was hurt and Washington peoples thought he could be better) ... I point to the bevy of bigs just like him already at LSU that have 2+ years left.

He's another one that has had some issues with injuries that have probably hurt his development like our other bigs at this point. Still, I at least think for the people really wanting Kasongo, that Jarreau basically having the same stats but at a higher level seems like more of a take.

It comes down to if you believe LSU needs another forward in this class. If you do it is down to Pap (pipedream), Jarreau, or someone we haven't heard of yet.

I've read alot about him and people really feel like he has first round potential if he can put it all together. The biggest negative people had on him was that nothing big ever happened, but nothing really negative showed up besides that.

Just like I felt with Kasongo, I'm not sure if he improves our position, but if there's ever a year to go all in and give a guy with two years D1 experience a shot, it would be this year so I'd go with Jarreau.

That's more than any returning big on our team averaged last year, just saying...

I don't think anyone thinks he is a difference maker but if he's certainly an upgrade over what we got from Epps, Malone, Bridgewater and ERIII this season then why would he not be a take? We have the room for 1 more player and it's clear what we really need - quality depth at the big men spot. Also, it wouldn't hurt to get a big with experience in considering all our bigs outside of Malone (still only a junior) will be freshmen and sophomores.

Who is just like him? Nobody has even played much less averaged what he has at the college level so far. This guy has 2 years of time left with tons of experience which is a big asset. He certainly is very rough around the edges only shooting 42% and not being a great rebounder, but: 6'10, 240 pounds with college experience and some output in that? Sign me up. The dude was severely injured one year and even last year missed 1/3 of the season due to injury, lets see what he can do healthy.

Not only all of this, but take a look at a certain related person to him and where they are nationally ranked for the 2016 recruiting class, think he might want to play with Jernard at the same school for 1 year at least?

Honestly think Jarreau is closest to Epps but with some added size from this years team, but even then he isn't really all that similar to anyone we have. He is more athletic than ER3 and Malone, bigger than Epps, more experienced than any of them, and has good potential if he can lose the injury bug he's had the past couple of seasons.

@BenLoveTSD: Ray Kasongo reportedly has committed to Tennessee. At current time don't believe #LSU basketball is going after Jernard Jarreau either.

It may take 1 phone call from Jones to get Jarreau... Just cause they may not have reached out yet doesn't mean we couldn't get him... If the coaches don't feel like he's the guy then so be it, but till then he is at least a viable option.

I find it hard to believe we wont reach out to JArreau especially considering the cousin connection - unless we have another one under wraps or just about.
