These threads always make me realize my spending on food and entertainment is ridiculously high. I budget $750 for each and I rarely fall below that. I am young and single, but if I could get my spending on those in line, I would be swimming in cash. My main goal is to not run out of cash between annual bonuses.
Ya, I budget $700 for groceries and $400 for eating out for 2 people.
How this poster above is at $500 for 2 people and 2 kids is beyond me
I will say "Groceries" can be a bit loose. I count anything I buy there, which includes pet food or maybe the random thing that isn't "food" that I may pick up, but its 98% food.

I have 3 kids and spend under $500 on food. It is really easy if you plan meals.
But, we also eat very healthy. Many meals consist of rice/potatoes/eggs/veggies/fruit.
We save meat for the weekends usually.
And we don't spend that little to save money, it is just easy to go to the store and buy shite food, feel like shite and get fat.

My 500 dollar grocery budget isn't too accurate
I have a mint category for shopping as well that I didn't mention. Sams and Walmart go to my shopping budget which happens to include a portion of groceries.
Not to mention our 500 dollar budget does get overrun many of the months. I just use it as a guide. I haven't tweaked them in awhile.
