He was quick to change his post from "below average point guard" to "not a top 10 point guard" because he was about to get killed for saying it

Throw in Rose, too.
Rondo was 40th in PER this season for all POINT GUARDS.
Either...
a) He's not the player he once was.
b) He's not nearly as good outside of that Boston offense he was accustomed to.
Carlisle is one of the top five coaches in the NBA. There is nothing fluke about him. There is nothing fluke about the successes Rondo has had in the league, either. However, he isn't a fit in Dallas. And he'll be gone after this season, as he should be.

And we are talking about the present day Rondo. The current Rondo is above average, nothing more.
