Depends. Will the 2-3 year old luxury car be a certified pre-owned? If yes, then I would consider it.

No way can you get a certified 2-3 yr old e class for 30k. For that price, cpo, best you can do is a C class(which would be an outdated body style), an Audi A4 or a bmw 3 series.
