I would consider hospital to drafting job as commuting miles since the 2 jobs are unrelated.

A good question to ask is "Would I have bought this item if I did not have this job?" If the answer is no, then you can probably deduct the expense. If the answer is yes, then you probably can not deduct the expense.

As far as uniforms, if you are required to wear a certain shirt (has company logo on it), then you can deduct it. If the company just has a dress code, and it is something you personally wouldn't wear outside of work due to your taste in clothes, but isn't out of the ordinary, then you can't deduct it. Just because you are a tshirt and jeans kind of guy doesn't mean you can deduct polo and slacks.
