Has AD's one on one defense regressed?

I am not sure why, but it seems to me that as Davis' offense game has developed, his on-ball defender skills have significantly diminished. He's still a great off the ball defender, but just seems he was more impressive on-ball in the past 2 seasons.

What's everyone else's take?

He really has some weaknesses in his defensive game, for sure. Something he needs to work on.

he was overrated on here as a 1-on-1 defender. he's been pretty mediocre-bad this series defensively

his best D has been when he's iso'd against curry after a pnr switch. curry made like 1 bucket last night with davis on him and didn't score about 5-6 other times

He's getting exposed as people learn his tendencies. It happens, great players adjust their game though so I'm not worried too much yet. That and he looks totally different than when season started. Definitely smaller.

Why is eveything in a vacuum?

Oh Asik sucks! -- have you seen some of the other NBA centers?

Oh we have no depth! -- have you watched this team the past few years? Watched some of the other teams?

Oh AD has regressed defensively one on one! -- when? Let's understand the best offensive players > the best defensive players. They are going to score. AD wins more one in ones defensively than a lot of players. His mere presence deters offensive possessions.

These critical, ambiguous "eye test" observations are getting ridiculous. Check the data. Look around the league. You would think this is the worst team in the league based on these Pels talk hot takes

The dude leads the league in blocked shots, and is probably in the top 3 in altered shots too. Smmfh.

He should guard Curry the entire game and see what happens, or at least for a first half. What do you guys have to lose at this point?

Ridiculous discussion.

He's a 7 footer being asked to guard Curry at times, then "ROAM" as a help defender, while trying to also contain his position assignment.

Here's a good read on the subject regarding Monty's schemes on defense etc..
