He didn't get the worst 970 board for that CPU at least. Just can't overclock, and in any game that's CPU limited (reaching close to 100% usage) he might see a little bit of throttling. But like $20 more would get a 990FX with none of those risks or limitations.

The vrms on the 970 won't handle that cpu long term.

Being a noob in PC builds, I purchased a Gigabyte GA-97x Gaming motherboard but soon realized that it wasn't compatible with the AMD FX. I thought I was saving some $$ lol.
Rookie mistake and so, since I'm not made of money, decided to get the compatible motherboard instead of the compatible processor. Will upgrade processor at a later time.
