Kitchen remodel recommendations

We are thinking about redoing our kitchen with a budget of $10,000. We live in Baton Rouge, anyone have any recommendations on who we could contact to do the job or give ideas?

Show us a picture of a kitchen you like. You need to replace cabinets, or can they be reworked. Your appliances need to be replaced?

The right kitchen you can do a bang-up job for $10k.
The wrong kitchen will be twice that amount or more.
It's kind of like asking how much a set of tires would cost without specifying what size tire.

Much more info is needed. Appliances could easily cost 10k alone

What type of floor are you looking for? That alone could be a few k's.
Also, wood or stone countertops? I have seen some nice butcher block countertops installed recently, they seem to be all the rage, at least in NYC.
Are you installing an island? New cabinets? That could be the difference between 10 and 20k.
Eta- as expensive as all that is, moving water fixtures and appliances around can be equally expensive. Quality plumbing work is not cheap. Don't move appliances around if you're trying to save money.

There's a number of variables involved .. Are you doing a complete, to the studs remodel ? $10K isn't much

im in the processing of re doing mine.
so far I put new bigger crown, base, and door/window mouldings. added a cabinet, replaced all of my cabinet doors with raised panel and new drawer fronts, granite counters, and am in the process of antiquing the finish on the cabinets. I also bought a sprayer to do the lacquer and a router. Also installed a farm/apron style sink. by the time I am finished I will spend around 5-6k Im guessing. Oh, I forgot I also did a island style hood over my stove.
I did all this shite myself or with help from family. Id imagine it would have been at least 15k if I paid someone.

The first thing I'd argue is you should think about what your objectives are. If you want to improve the value of the home for resale then take a look at your neighborhood and decide what types of upgrades will get you money back and what won't. If you have already done a lot of work on your house and are near peak value of a home in your neighborhood, size, etc then realize you won't get the money back and just do it if you will get that much enjoyment out of living there afterwards.
Go to some local open houses and decide what the neighborhood standard is if you aren't sure.

I used to remodel kitchens/baths Cabinets,flooring, countertops, Sheetrock work,painting, electric,plumbing, permits, appliances, plumbing and lighting fixtures over 20k with out blinking an eye

If he can do the work himself it might be done (minus the appliances). Putting down flooring isn't hard, just time consuming and requires a lot of care. Refinishing cabinets isn't expensive, just requires TLC.
The granite or other solid surface will cost but depending on how many feet he wants that could be under his budget. I doubt new appliances make sense at this time given his budget and other wishes tho.

Whatever you plan to budget for, in this case $10K, know that you'll probably go over unless you stick to your budget, you do the majority of the work yourself and you encounter no surprises.
$10K goes by very quickly in a kitchen.

Why is your fridge in the breakfast/dining room? I don't know where the best place to put it would be in that galley kitchen layout without giving up some counter top space.

I can't get a real good idea of the size, but it looks to me like 10K would do a world of good in that kitchen....floor and refinish cabinets and then see what you have left...
not in BR, so I can't help with a designer...in fact, since you are on a tight budget, why not just have a remodeling contractor come in and give you some ideas and estimates...that way you aren't spending a 10% of your budget on designer...

Hello, I own an upscale Remodeling company in North Carolina. I may can provide some helpful input.
A few questions:
How did you establish your 10k budget?
Is this your first home? 2nd home? Price point of house?
What are you trying to accomplish when you say "redo"?
What does value mean to you and your spouse?
Are you planning to move in the next 5 years?
Is this an update project or are you seriously trying to gut it?
The national average for a full kitchen remodel is 53k for mindrange type of finishes
Upscale kitchens range 75-125k...
It depends where you are in life. 10k is alot of money, but it's not much towards redoing a kitchen
Use Houzz.com for inspiration...
Even though your budget is very modest, my advise is to approach this project with no regrets. Especially since the kitchen is the most important space in the house and generally provides a nice return if and when you sell down the road.
