Garage sales are interesting experiences, at least here in BR.

My wife and I inherited furniture and odds and ends from relatives over the years so we've held a handful of sales over the years - we lived in the garden district and then later mid-city.

The thing we noticed was that within the first hour of the sale, we saw the same 20 or so people come and hit the better items hard. They all wanted to lowball within the first hour and eventually would pay asking price when we stood firm.

Basically, know your neighborhoods and what places might have diamonds in the rough.

Also, gotta be in that early rush because the pros can spot anything of remote value and snatch it up.
