Big transition year for CBS and it was all downhill after that.

- Lost rights to the NBA to NBC just as the league was blowing up and MJ was about to go off.

- Fired Brent Musburger, who was a network stalwart. He was involved in essentially all facets of CBS Sports.

- I want to say their CFB package shrunk a bit.

- They got MLB at the worst time, and their coverage was loathed by all MLB diehards. MLB was seen as NBC's birthright, and CBS's coverage was seen as sporadic and half assed. Massive failure with lots of money lost.

- By the mid-'90s, all CBS had was NCAA basketball and the Masters.

CBS ruled sports in the '80s, NBC the '90s, and ABC to an extent the early 2000s. Now it's spread around pretty well without one network dominating.

ehhh i'd say its still abc/espn/disney thats dominating. nbc has nothing, fox has some baseball and 50% of nfl, cbs has the other half of nfl and the ncaa tournament, abc has most of college football, a ton of college bball, most of nba, some baseball and monday night football. i don't follow hockey, golf or nascar so I'm not sure where that fits in.
